Thailand a destination for Medical Marijuana Tourism

Police officers destroy unauthorized marijuana plants in Sakon Nakhon province on Dec. 9, 2020.

In the announcement on Tuesday, Thai officials are proud to declare the first-ever medical marijuana tour that is set to open in 2021 and the very first in South East Asia. As stated by the Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Tourism and Sports both are in agreement that more awareness needs to be placed upon the medical benefits of marijuana and draw interest towards it now that the substances are legal in Thailand.

In light of this eight provinces within Thailand shall play host to the medical marijuana tourism such as; Lampang, Mae Hong Son, Samut Songkhram, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Phatthalung, and Chon Buri. Steps are already taken to increase awareness on a local level by expressing the importance and benefits of marijuana as an alternative source of revenue since the approval and legalization of marijuana in 2018 as a medical treatment is legal.
