According to a spokesperson for the State Insurance Commission of Thailand, all foreign tourists must possess insurance coverage for the COVID-19 and these packages need to cover the tourist for the duration of their stay within the Kingdom, as well as various options for insurances, will now be available online. People visit from countries with low-risk of COVID-19 can see a minimal payment of 1,600 Thai baht to an upwards of 43,000 Thai baht based on the country of origin and the extensiveness that is covered by the package. These packages can vary vastly from 30 days to up to a year with over 16 companies providing these insurance packages online. Companies such as Pacific Cross, Viriyah, and Muang Thai Life offer a variety of COVID-19 insurance packages that cover funeral expenses as well if the cause of death is related to the illness.

With the discussion to allow for limited border openings, a proposal is passed which consider the return of long-term visitors seeking to find warmth during the cold European winters as Phuket is currently being highlighted as the key destination with a mandatory 14-day quarantine before being allowed to travel while being permitted a 7-day quarantine should they wish to travel beyond the island.
