It looks like things are returning to normal in Phuket as bars are now allowed to open to the late hours once more as the provincial government eased the disease control restrictions placed upon the province. Restaurants, bars and entertainment venues are back in business with their usual operating hours as there is no more midnight curfews and the ban on late-night alcohol sales has been lifted.

While the bars are open, restaurants are back in business. Social distancing must still be adhered too for example, dancing and shared drinks are not allowed. It was announced recently as well by the Phuket Communicable Disease Committee, that the restrictions have been lifted just the day before the announcement was released. It was announced that late-night hours working shifts and alcohol sales are now permitted from the Phuket Public Relations department. While this might be good news to some, it is however cautioned that people refrain from going over the limits in drinking and socializing and to practice social distancing to prevent further spread of the disease. What does this mean? Things are pretty much returning to normalcy. Basic services such as restaurants and bars are open for those looking to grab a bite or a drink. The only thing we can’t do is dance, mingle or share a drink and get ourselves one of those infamous ‘buckets’ with a questionable mix of alcoholic beverages all mixed together. That aside, you can now drink until the late hours and as long as you respect social distancing things are going to be fine. This would slowly herald the reopening of the Phuket Walking Street in due time, which would greatly benefit the tourism industry in Phuket
