TAT organises forum to enhance “Elephant Care Tourism

In light of recent news and rumors about the degrading of elephant care for elephant based tourism in Thailand, both TAT and local government authorities are collaborating and communicating in order to monitor and crack down on any abuse and mistreatment of these animals.

In the discussions held by the various speakers, it is affirmed that elephants are both cultural and historical importance to the Thai people. With how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected tourism at large, Elephant Care Tourism is rapidly fading with much of the income generated to care for these noble animals all but faded, as it is proving harder for both the caretakers and their companions to manage to survive and pull through without financial aid and something must be done to help them soon.
