While Covid 19 is still in the air, Thailand is fairly lucky to have escaped the brutal onslaught thanks to the quick action of the authorities. We can now have a fairly normal life albeit the wearing of masks and frequent hand sanitization which is a small price to pay for this new normal lifestyle. This brings us to a breath of fresh air in the middle of the busiest commercial and housing area in Sukhumvit. The Pongyo at Sansiri is a brainchild of the Saansiri group to provide a splash of greenery for their township and housing project. Visitors are not charged any entrance rates to get into this ecopark that is trying hard to implement a more eco-friendly environment. Visitor to Pongyo will find lots of activites that is suitable for adults and children alike. Located near the entrance is a green café where food and drink is available. Note that most of the greens are from their little mini farm which is just a short walk from their café. There is a children activity area where they can hunt real eggs from the chicken cages, feed the chickens, ducks and fish where the ducks roam free. There is also a rice berry rice field and an area where you can buy plants for your home. Available is also a jogging and cycling track, plus the beautifully landscaped area is great for taking some really nice pictures. This place has a good system of tarmacs for baby strollers up to some areas, but I think that they should improve on their pavements to also include the use of wheelchairs for the elderly and disabled. This ecopark is a great place to spend a weekend visit and best times are in the mornings and late evening when the sun is not too hot. Do go and visit this little gem in the city for a change of being isolated in an enclosed environment.
